ART ITINERARIES
The project Art itineraries is part of the Action Plan concerning quality tourism of the Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Florence. It intends to support major exhibitions with the publication of foldable booklets that offer alternative itineraries in the historic centre. The main objectives are: to revalue those places of the city which do not appear in the usual tourist routes, often forgotten or unknown even to citizens; to grant the Florentine people re-appropriation of the own city and the cultural heritage; to sensitize the visitors for Florence being a UNESCO World Heritage site. The published material concerning the project is branded with the logo Art itineraries in Florence.
Florence. The sites of Perugino
The project Art itineraries in Florence was established on the occasion of the exhibition "Perugino in Florence. Quality and Success of a Style" organized by the Special Office for the Florentine Museum Centre in the Cenacolo di Fuligno in Via Faenza. In this context, a foldable booklet was designed and distributed in which an urban itinerary was delineated that should enable the discovery of the places where works of Perugino are preserved; these are described in concise info boxes within the brochure. The itinerary meanders in two different routes through the centre; each is endowed with a map that allows the quick assessment of the mounments' locations. Another space is designated for practical information regarding the specified places (adress, opening hours, possible entrance fees, bus lines) as well as for a map of the major Florentine public transport lines. Thus, the booklet offers the opportunity, for Italian as well as for foreign visitors (it is available also in English), to access the identified sites without difficulty.
Furthermore, the project constitutes a first step into the direction of a shared vision of the heritage as well as an active collaboration with all those institutions that work in the area, like APT and ATAF, and especially the Offices for Preservation.
Florence. The sites of Leon Battista Alberti
On the occasion of the exhibition "The Man of the Renaissance. Leon Battista Alberti and his Art in Florence between Reason and Beauty" that took place from March to July 2006 in Palazzo Strozzi, a new foldable booklet was realized which proposes a route exploring the architecture of Alberti. Thus, the citizen is offered not only artistic-cultural in-depth knowledge but also specific information on how to reach the places of interest as well as on how to organize the visit. The booklet is composed of seven pages including information on the works of Leon Battista Alberti in the historic centre of Florence (Palazzo Rucellai, Loggia Rucellai, Tempietto Rucelai, facade of the Basilica di Santa Maria Novella, Villa Suburbano degli Orti Oricellai, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, drum of the cupola and lantern of Santa Maria del Fiore) as well as one page on the Chiesa di San Martino di Gangalandi situated in Lastra a Signa..
