PROJECT FIORENZA
The project evolved from the collaboration between the Department for Culture of the Municipality and the UNESCO Centre of Florence. The actual state can be divided into two initiatives directly correlated one another that have as primary objectives: to involve the citizens and especially the young people in projects concerning the valuation of the historic centre; to disperse the awareness of the exceptional value of the city, regarding its historic, historic-artistic, landscape, traditional etc. aspects; to offer the community the opportunity to strengthen the sentiment of belonging to the city, via a deeper knowledge and direct participation in activities concerning the site.
The first initiative entitled "Fiction story: Florence Patrimony of Humanity" intends to involve young students of the higher education system in Florence, of the universities and cultural institutions, including foreign nationals, in the writing and realization of screenplays for a short film as well as for a motion picture; these have as background the city of Florence and its universal values acknowledged by UNESCO.
The first phase has already been completed with the production of a commercial, edited by the director Alessio Della Valle and with original music by Lorenzo Piggici, which is set in the Historic Centre and sees the participation of the highest authority of Florence as well as of known artists. It aims at promoting the initative in schools as well as at finding sponsors; it is supposed to provoke anticipation and curiosity, and to favor, as a consequence, a broad participation in the project.
The public competition which envisions the elaboration of screenplays by young students is entitled "Write a fiction story that you would like to see realized on the big screen, and which has Florence and its heritage as setting".
The second initiative has a more specific educational character and consists of a study and research program that is divided into diverse encounters that have the city of Florence as a protagonist; the participation of internationally known experts in various fields is intended.
The course essentially refers to teachers, under the auspices of dispersing the awareness of the acknowledged universal value of Florence among the young people, who promote the competition "Write a fiction story" within affiliated institutions.
