PROJECT DAVID (Digital Archive and Virtual Documentation)
The Project DAVID, financed by the institution Savings Bank (Cassa di Risparmio) of Florence, offers the opportunity to get to know the area of the historic centre and to provide different keys for reading the single states of edificial and historic-artistic emergencies. The realization and implementation of the project, not only on historic buildings but also on entire zones and quarters of the city, constitute a fundamental objective of the Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Florence, insofar as the developed technologies and gathered informations within the project permit the constant monitoring of the urban fabbric, the identification of situations of decay and the arrangement of prompt interventions, preserving in such a way the heritage of the city and the testimonies of the past.
The project provides:
Elaboration of a system of cataloging and archiving of informations regarding the state of conservation of a fabbric and the interventions of restoration
Elaboration and verification of the applicability of a system of numeric valuation of the state of decay of a fabbric
Elaboration of an operating and methodological manual in which the diagnostic research, the measurements, the necessary pre-project and project studies are defined, before developing the restoration project
